The groundbreaking celebration took place in June 2022, with four-time major champion and golf hall of fame inductee Raymond Floyd signing on to redesign the original Raptor Bay Golf Course. Floyd is incorporating the natural beauty of southwest Florida to create a challenging but family-friendly course. New golfers or families can try out their skills on the shorter 9-hole course with pop-up bars, music, and a go-at-your-pace feel.
Raymond Floyd believes that land should not be added to a golf course where it doesn't belong and doesn't like to move a lot of earth to create a course. Floyd stated at the groundbreaking:
"I've always been fond of trying to lay a golf course out as part of the natural environment and let nature be the beautiful thing it is."
For this reason, there won't be any bunkers at the new innovative course; however, there will be sand in the exposed preserve areas but no traditional sand pits where your ball disappears from sight!

Saltleaf Marina at Estero Bay
Construction begins in fall 2022 on the Saltleaf Marina, with boat slips available for both Saltleaf residents and the general public. Although the marina is new, it will be a restoration of Weeks Fishing Camp. In the 1930s, Draine and Mamie Weeks built a shack on their bayfront property, which grew into a fishing camp. The fishing hamlet became known as Coconut, although locally, it was known as Weeks Fishing Camp. In the 1940s, the camp was opened to commercial fishing, wildlife photography, and marine research.
