Naples Pier is 130 years old and located close to 3rd Street and 5th Avenue in Old Naples. Old Naples is perfect for a stroll around the landscaped streets, and when you hit 12th Avenue South be sure to take a walk out to the end of the Pier. If you are enjoying a long walk, take advantage of the Pier’s updated restrooms, they come in very handy! The sunrises and sunsets from the vantage point of the end of the Pier are spectacular.

Palm Cottage is just down the Street from the Pier and is Naples' oldest surviving home. It is open for tours from Tuesday to Saturday.

While strolling around the Pier, enjoy 3rd Street with shopping and restaurants. Home to Tommy Bahama store and restaurant, 3rd Street has many women's fashion boutiques, restaurants, etc. Gattles Fine Linens is currently celebrating its 60th anniversary in its location on 3rd St and has a selection of linens, accessories, and gifts from around the world.

Campiello's is a famous Naples landmark. You will find traditional Tuscan dishes and great wine, whether you eat al fresco or inside the Florence-inspired dining room.

Old Naples Pub is another dining experience on 3rd Street. First, check out the inside, where the history of Naples covers the walls. Then, enjoy the outside tables under a vine-covered canopy. The pub provides traditional food and has remained a favorite of Naples residents for many years.

Every Saturday year-round 3rd Street holds a great farmers market. Diverse vendors display local and organic produce, fruits and vegetables, prepared food, breads, and desserts. Take a stroll around the market, then go for brunch or lunch at a nearby restaurant or cafe. 

Eating or shopping on 3rd Street is an obvious pleasure, but just strolling and enjoying the flowering baskets and containers of flowers is worth a visit.

After visiting 3rd Street, your next stop is the world-famous 5th Avenue South. Here also, you will be surrounded by lush landscaping, excellent restaurants, unique gift and jewelry stores, art galleries, and, of course, boutiques and shopping! 

If you walk to the end of 5th Avenue and cross Gulfshore Boulevard, you can enjoy the panorama of the Gulf of Mexico and one of Naples's magnificent sand beaches that stretches for miles in either direction.

There are over 25 restaurants lining 5th Avenue South. The French serves superb French food on their outdoor patio or inside with a feel of a 19th-century French brasserie. Bha! Bha! Persian Bistro serves Persian cuisine. Catering to every taste, 5th Avenue restaurants will please even the pickiest eater.

The Naples Players perform at The Sugden Theater on 5th Avenue. Naples Players is an excellent community theater group that performs dramas, original plays, and lighthearted musicals and comedies. An evening spent at Sugden Theater with the Naples Players is always a joy. 

Moving north in Naples, Waterside Shops at Pine Ridge Road and US 41 is another excellent spot to spend some time. Anchored by Saks Fifth Avenue and an Apple Store, there is plenty to amuse and delight even the most discerning shopper. 

Buy a new Tesla, dazzle her with diamonds from Tiffany, buy the latest fashions at Tory Burch, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Lily Pultizer; all of these and more are available at Waterside Shops.

When all that shopping makes you hungry, you have the option of selecting from four outstanding restaurants. 

If all that shopping has worn you out, how about a trip back to nature? The famous Audubon Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary is a 30-minute drive east into the Everglades. You can experience most of the Everglades ecosystem during your walk on the 2.25-mile boardwalk. Start with the pine flatwoods, then a wet prairie, around a marsh, and then through the largest old growth Bald Cypress forest in North America. 

As well as flora and fauna, Corkscrew Swamp is teeming with alligators, wading birds, white-tailed deer, and red-bellied turtles. So stay on that boardwalk; those alligators can move much faster than you think!

Another nature excursion is to the Naples Zoo. The zoo consists of a one-mile paved trail winding through the animals' natural habitat. Because the animal enclosures are large and surrounded by glass or fences, you can get an up-close look at most animals housed at the zoo. Free Saturday for Collier residents is the first Saturday of every month, so you can visit as often as you like. 

You can access the Gordon River Greenway from the Naples Zoo parking lot. The Greenway is a 140-acre ecological park in the heart of Naples. There is no admission charge, and pets are allowed on a leash. Walk, jog, bike, skateboard, or rollerblade along the 2.5 miles of boardwalk, mulched paths, and some asphalt. You can fish from the lookout piers and even kayak through the swamp. If you don't feel like driving out to the Everglades, this park is a great way to view wildlife and native plants.

There are a few different ways to enjoy a boat ride out into the Gulf, depending on whether you would like to be your own captain or prefer a more relaxed guided tour.

The Naples Princess is probably the most famous of the guided tour varieties. Some of the cruises include lunch, dinner, or happy hour. The best cruise is the sunset cruise. The boat travels by the impressive homes in Port Royal; then it stops just out in the Gulf of Mexico so you can watch the amazing sunset. Dolphins love to chase the boat and are a gorgeous sight to see. The Naples Princess docks directly beside Tin City, so you can still get some shopping done before or after your cruise!

Pure Florida, also located at Tin City, offers a dolphin cruise. Here you can see the mansions of Port Royal, but also enjoy dolphins and manatees close up in their natural setting. The boat stops at Keewaydin Island, where you can walk along the beach and collect shells or wade in the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Keewaydin Island is only accessible by boat and is uninhabited. It is a popular destination for boat owners, who anchor on the bayside and wade through calm, sparkling water to the beach.

There are good options for boat rental in both Naples and Marco Island. With a half-day or full-day rental, you are the captain of your own ship. Explore the nearby islands, do some fishing, or kick back and cruise while enjoying the marvelous scenery from the water instead of the road.

8. The eighth reason to live at Talis Park – the Naples Beaches

It is very easy to take the beach shuttle directly from Talis Park to Vanderbilt Beach and have all your beach accessories delivered to you; however, there are many other beaches to enjoy in the Naples area.

As a Talis Park resident, you are also a Collier County resident, and parking at any beach in Collier County is free. Visit a local regional park or the Naples City offices with your car registration and proof of residence, and pick up a pass to stick on your windshield that expires annually. Be sure to renew it when it expires because the parking police love to give beach parking tickets!

Marco Island is an excellent destination if you fancy a bit of a drive. Due to the proximity of Talis Park to I-75, you will not need longer than about 25 minutes to reach Marco Island. Marco Island is also in Collier County, so your beach parking pass works here. Tigertail Beach Park is the closest beach to Naples. This beach is unique because there is a very shallow, warm lagoon between the parking lot and the Gulf. For a little paddling, this is a great choice. 

If you walk past the lagoon and around the mangroves, you will reach the main area of Tigertail Beach. The view stretches for miles down the wide, sandy beach past the gulf-front condos to the end of the island. If the tide is out, the walk from the mangroves to the Gulf can seem daunting as it is quite a distance. Restrooms and changing facilities in the Tigertail Beach parking lot make your visit even more enjoyable. 

There is another beach access further down the island, between the Marriott Crystal Shores and the Hilton Marco Island Resort. However, the parking here is very limited, so you might want to choose Tigertail and walk down the beach as far as you like.

The Naples Pier beach offers restrooms, a concession, and easy access to 3rd St and 5th Avenue. The parking is again limited, but there are a few parking spaces at the end of each road to the west of Gulfshore Boulevard. Your Collier County resident beach sticker will work at any parking area. Again, you can walk miles on the beach in either direction from the Pier.

The 3rd Avenue beach is a small beach with easy access to 5th Avenue. There are a few parking spaces here, so make sure you have your beach pass.  3rd Avenue is not to be confused with 3rd Street. In Old Naples, Avenues are numbered and run west to east. Streets are numbered and run north and south. So when entering the address in your GPS, make sure you make the right choice of destination. Stroll to this beach to enjoy the sunset and then wander back to 5th Avenue or 3rd Street to make the difficult decision of where to eat dinner!

Located just north of Old Naples, Lowdermilk Park is very popular with locals and tourists alike, so you need to arrive early to snag a parking spot. Lowdermilk Park is an awesome park with lots of green space, restrooms, and a concession. In addition, Lowdermilk is a fantastic place to watch the sunset. So come early and set up dinner at one of the picnic tables; then take your chair and drink of choice to the beach to watch the sunset; be sure to look out for the green flash!

Further north on Gulfshore Boulevard is Clam Pass Beach. There is a large parking lot and a boardwalk to the beach. You can ride the free tram that runs all day or take a three-quarter mile walk through the mangroves to the beach. Taking the tram would be the best option since the walk can be quite lengthy if you carry beach equipment and refreshments. There is a limited concession on the beach, and restrooms are available. 

Delnor-Wiggins State Park Beach is at the end of Immokalee Road. Unlike the other beaches, there are no high-rise buildings and development along this beach. Due to the lack of development,  there are frequent wildlife sightings such as osprey, owls, eagles, and shorebirds. 

The park has an entrance fee as this is a state park, annual parking passes are available, so if you like this beach, it is good to purchase the annual pass. A one-mile road extends from the entrance to Wiggins Pass at the end of the park, and different parking areas and beach access are along the way. There is also a quarter-mile boardwalk at the north end that winds through the mangroves.

Kayaks, paddleboards, and canoes are available for rent, and the quiet waters of Turkey Bay are a great place to enjoy the watersports. Swimming is the best watersport on offer at Delnor Wiggins State Park. The gulf waters are calm and warm here, and views of the mangroves and palm trees from the water are remarkable. 

There are shaded picnic areas with grills and tables available for use. Bring food and supplies and spend the day in this tropical oasis close to Talis Park.

Barefoot Beach Preserve is further north; although you enter off Bonita Beach Road, the preserve is actually in Collier County as the tip of the peninsula is Collier County. Barefoot Beach is often rated one of the country's best beaches and one of the most deserted. Here you will find 342 acres of preserve to enjoy. It is just over 1.5 miles to the end of the beach for beach walkers, and you can look across the pass and see Delnor Wiggins State Park beach. Again, as this is a preserve, you will not find high-rises and development adjacent to this beach.

The Gulf water is shallow and warm on Barefoot Beach, so take off those shoes and feel the sand between your toes as you enjoy your beach walk.

A mile-long boardwalk stretches through a marine forest where you will be able to spot local wildlife. Barefoot Beach Preserve is a gopher tortoise preserve, and you should be able to spot these speedy tortoises. Watch that you don't step on one; they are so busy eating they forget to get out of your way!
