Talis Park Golf Club is the masterpiece of the Talis Park community. Situated on Livingston Road in Naples, Florida, Talis Park is just a few minutes away from the Naples beaches and many Naples amenities.
Southwest Florida Regional Airport, located in Fort Myers, is the airport of choice for residents of Naples. However, Talis Park's north Naples location makes it a very easy journey from the airport to the community. You can leave the snow of the northern states, and within a couple of hours, you can be playing a round of golf on Talis Park's amazing golf course.
TALIS PARK GOLF CLUB – THE COURSE
Considered one of Florida's top 20 golf courses by Golf Digest, Talis Park Golf Club sits on over 133 acres of manicured turf and measures 7,200 yards from the championship tee. Five sets of tees enable even weaker players to enjoy their round. The course has a slope rating of 137 and a 73.1 USGA rating.
The many waterfalls, bridges, and painstaking attention to landscaping, make this course a delight for the eyes and senses. In addition, the tenth hole has been named one of the world's most beautiful holes.
One of only two courses worldwide designed by Greg Norman and Pete Dye, Talis Park Golf Club winds its way through the meticulously landscaped and manicured community of Talis Park.
The bright green of the fairways is due to the use of SeaDwarf Paspalum grass. This grass is a warm-weather grass and very tolerant to salt. Furthermore, the grass can be watered with lower quality water, thus saving thousands of dollars in irrigation costs per year. For example, in Mallorca, Spain, the golf course uses straight seawater to irrigate the course! In terms of the environment, the grass requires little fertilizer and nitrogen and uses table salt to repel weeds. Consequently, fewer chemicals are released into the ecosystem compared to Bermuda grass, commonly used in Florida.
The golf course includes both uphill and downhill holes interwoven along terraced hillsides and throughout the varied communities of Talis Park. Interspersed around the golf course, you will enjoy the extra challenge of cross bunkers; just make sure you don't "cross-bunker" by playing from one bunker to another across the fairway.
Except for number fourteen, all the holes have water hazards, so if you love the challenge of water during your golf game, you will be right at home. Luckily, Talis Park Golf Club has an extensive pro shop, so you can purchase a good supply of golf balls before leaving for your round.
In addition to the gorgeous golf course, Talis Park Golf Club offers 9 acres of practice facilities. One of the main attractions of the practice facility is the Trackman Golf Simulator. The simulator gives you an indoor golf experience on those days too hot or rainy to venture out to the course. The Trackman uses Doppler-radar technology and video tracking to capture the data of your swing, ball speed, dynamic loft, and club path. Trackman combines two radars and one camera for more accuracy and innovation. Armed with this data, you can make improvements and enjoy your golf game even more. Requiring only the best for their residents, Talis Park Golf Club chose the Trackman for their tracking unit as this is the choice of top players.
Two short game areas are available at the Golf Club. As your short game equates to just under 70% of your golf shots, it is very important to practice. Bill Schmedes of Golf Digest suggests that, although the short game practice is not as exciting as the range, you should practice your short game at least 60% of your practice time. He also states, on average, a golfer throws away eight to twelve shots per round due to a poor short game. Therefore, your handicap will drop dramatically if you spend your time practicing your short game.
Furthermore, you can also practice putting on the putting greens, so you have no excuse not to spend your time on your short game and improve your score!
The extensive pro-shop showcases everything you need to look great while golfing, even if you are not a good golfer. Remember, practice that short game, and you will improve.
TALIS PARK GOLF COURSE – THE 19TH HOLE
Every golf course must have a dazzling "19th hole," the Talis Park Golf Club is no exception. However, there are very few "19th holes" in the world that rival the remarkable award-winning Vyne House. Try not to be distracted by the sight of the Vyne House rising up and resembling a Tuscan castle as you approach the 18th fairway. The stonework used in the clubhouse can be seen throughout the course and is used to create bridges to cross the many ponds. The amenities included in Vyne House are spectacular and are an important part of the Golf Club.
Vyne House comprises 50,000 square feet of dining and entertainment space, split 50/50 between indoors and outdoors, with interconnecting paved walkways and courtyards. Again, you will feel the influence of the Tuscan countryside and mountain towns, with the terra-cotta roofs and Italian architecture. The Talis Park Golf Clubhouse is a bustling village center serving all the community residents as their go-to entertainment and activity center. The courtyards and the Great Lawn in front of the clubhouse serve as venues for social gatherings and impromptu events.
Enjoy casual dining at the Grill Room, with both indoor and outdoor seating. The Talis Park Golf Club is the perfect place to enjoy happy hour, pizza, or the full menu of special dishes.
You will find Fiona's Café in Vyne House close to the fitness center. Drive your golf cart to the café and enjoy a delicious, made-to-order breakfast before hitting the course, or unwind after your round with a smoothie or ice-cream treat or even a selection from the extensive wine list.
Are you in need of some cooling off after a hot game of golf? First, head to the impressive locker room to shower and then enjoy the resort-style pool surrounded by cabanas, palm trees, and flowers. This charming oasis will help you relax, and you can enjoy full bar service for that post-game beverage.
If golfing alone is not sufficient exercise for you, you can access the Talis Park Golf Club's extensive fitness center. If you prefer to stay inside for exercise, you can use the Precor treadmills and cardio machines with touchscreens. Don't forget the miles of walking paths outside winding their way through orchards, communities, and the golf course. The fitness center equipment also includes Precor weight machines, free weights, kettlebells, yoga balls, and mats.
If you prefer group activities, the very popular spin classes on Schwinn Performing bikes are held regularly.
All the exercise and golfing can cause muscle aches and pains; make an appointment at the Esprit Spa for a therapeutic massage, body treatment, or wrap. You can also partake of delicious food and beverages at the spa.
The Talis Park beach shuttle leaves from the Vyne House to Vanderbilt Beach. Visitors and residents love our beautiful Naples beaches, but parking is hard to find during winter. We all know that a day at the beach isn't complete without all the equipment, and carrying coolers, chairs, umbrellas, and towels from your parking spot to the beach can spoil a beach day before it begins. But, when you are a Talis Park Golf Club member, ride in comfort in the complimentary Mercedes-Benz beach shuttle; arrive for your beach day right at Vanderbilt Beach with complimentary chairs, towels, and water. You can even order a beach lunch from the Vyne House before leaving Talis Park. If watersports interest you, you can rent equipment at Cabana Dans and charge to your account.
